Ian Watts 1st Anniversary Memorial Gathering Pt.1

21/1/09 - Feggs' Birthday.
Hello to one and all and welcome to the official blog for the late Ian Watts

As the date draws nearer to the 1st anniversary of his passing, rumors and hearsay abound of a gathering for loved ones, both family and friends for a celebration of Ian's life.

As it stands, Cripple Creek is the intended venue for the gathering, most likely on the second weekend of March 09.

Dates and details are being discussed at present and will be posted as they come to hand.

At this stage the following ideas have been put forward.

  • Feggs Memorial Motorcycle Run beginning with the boys from the sunshine coast (Floss, Rosco, Dizzy, etc etc, collecting Christian and Dean (F'N'C FC MC) from the Far North Coast of NSW, and anybody else along the way culminating in a.....
  • Feggstock Mk2 Event at Cripple Creek with music, fun and frivolity - an open invitation to anyone who would like to attend, with a charity donation to a suitable organization.
As mentioned before, details are being discussed at present and any input from anyone is invited. The best way to put your ideas forward are either to post a comment on this blog or email feggsblog@gmail.com
Please forward this page on to anyone you think may be interested and if you would like to go onto the mailing list, please email to feggsblog@gmail.com

Long runs on the bike were a favourite with Feggs and few other activities celebrate his life and achievements than a blast down a few of his cherished roads... The trip down the coast offers a few of these, and I reckon a Feggs Watts Memorial Run would have to include the Putty Rd and the Bells Line, with maybe a bit of dirt between Bathurst and Cripple Creek. Maybe we could coordinate with a run on the day, meet up in Bathurst and travel some of his familiar roads into town..? Places like the Forest Reefs Tavern and Burnt Yards come to mind... I'm open to any suggestions..
Cripple Creek will be available for the events, and I'm sure will accommodate any who wish to brave the hard, hard ground out there, with on-site water and power, but we'll need to get some porta-loos, like last time.
'Til next time - All the Breast!

Hi all, many of you will recognise the nickname...and since that is the name Feggs bestowed upon me what must now be quite a few years ago I guess I'll use it here.

What is currently proposed for the day (following a couple of meetings in Orange)is as follows. The date will be Saturday the 14th of March, 2009. Basically the day will start with a Mystery Tour/ Poker Run leaving from Cook Park in Orange at 10am. Then to follow a route that we know Feggs particularly enjoyed over some local roads (probably a couple of hundred k's)There will be a small charge for this of about fifteen bucks to cover the cost of the enroute lunch. Anything left over will go to a worthwhile greenie cause.

The ride will wind up at Cripple Creek and we hope that the evening proceeds with the same spirit of adventure, mateship and memories that we saw there on the occasion of his 50th not that long ago.

There is still time for people to put forward suggestions and any brilliant ideas will be adopted so get posting. Please let those you know would want to know, know and point them to this site.

More info will be posted here as it comes to hand. Cop ya...

Hi all! May i suggest that a ride should surely include White Rocks and Lewis and Lower Lewis Ponds. Feggs loved the area with a passion and frequently retold....frequently retold... the many memories of his mispent youth there with friends indulging in outrageously reckless behaviour!
He loved the areas beauty, dirt roads, homesteads and its family generational history links.
Be well all

Ps
Feggs would be so chuffed that Bush was booted and boo'ed out on his 54th B'Da. Would be watching and cheering!

Pss. And the lovely Windy Corner and its shearing shed and pit loo and beloved MV in late 70's with Fegg's notions of get rich schemes such as potato farming with feeto in the middle of severe drought,Byng,Ophir and finding gold in them there hills. And a wedding reception party that raged for 2 days and stayers that outlasted our week long camping honeymoon where we were thrown out of Bemagui by local police 4 hassling local cafe about cost of B'fast! Sorry if rambling but the memories flooding back all nite long...will shutup now!!! xoxooxoxo
